Board certified in pediatrics, general surgery, and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Karen Cartwright is an active member of our pediatric surgery department at Valley Children’s. She has a special interest in minimal access procedures in children.

Dr. Cartwright is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group. Throughout the year she enjoys volunteering her time and medical skills helping children around the world.

Dr. Cartwright received her medical degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She completed a pediatric residency at Phoenix Hospitals Affiliated Pediatric Program and was chief resident at Maricopa County Hospital. Following pediatric residency she did a general surgical residency at the University of California, San Diego as well as the University of Utah. She is fellowship-trained in pediatric surgery by Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
