Digital Media and Screen Time
Parenting in the digital age can often seem like an impossible task. Between the television, computer and mobile phone, kids are being bombarded with messages. In this ever-increasing technological world, it is important parents set limits to help kids stay safe online, raise responsible and aware digital citizens and ensure children are still receiving adequate outdoor activity time and social interaction.
While technology is a great tool for learning and communication, too much screen time can have negative effects on children’s physical and emotional health. To help set a healthy balance, we encourage families to create a media plan and set limits for how much screen time children have daily. Remember, kids learn by example, so model good media habits for your children to follow.
