Why did you choose Valley Children's Pediatric Residency Program?
I saw how the faculty and staff treated each other like family and how they were committed to supporting each other. That translated to their commitment to excellence in the care of patients and in making a difference to patients and to the community. I wanted to work at a hospital where I could serve a diverse community, grow as a physician and as a person, and make a difference in the community. Valley Children’s Hospital was just such a place!

Hobbies:
Baking, cooking, brewing tea and coffee, discovering new music, skiing, running, hiking, martial arts, anime and rooting for the Lakers

Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments:
Social determinants of health, underserved communities and diversity. Prior research focused on critiquing and diversifying children’s literature in the local chapter of the Reach Out and Read program in an effort to improve literacy and education among children from low-income and minority families.

Care philosophy:
I believe that in providing effective care, you have to look at each person as a whole, not just as someone with symptoms. Many things contribute to a person’s health, including the physical, mental and spiritual, past experiences, culture, environment and so much more. But the key to providing this type of care is by building relationships with patients and their families by being respectful, empathetic and by taking a moment to listen to and get to know patients.
